South Bull Creek (4.4 miles)

Map

This 4.4 mile out-and back hiking trail runs from Bull Creek Park to Old Spicewood Springs Rd.  The trail crosses the river several times but even in high water, outcrops and stepping stones help keep you dry and crossing the river should not be a problem.  There are several small waterfalls and swimming holes along the trail so bring your swimsuit.  The trail surface is mostly dirt and rocks, but the rocks can become slippery when wet so hiking shoes or boots are recommended.  The woodland scenery keeps the trail mostly shaded so even during the hot summer months this hike is still fairly easy.  Dogs are not required to be on a leash once you are on the trail and are free to run and play in the river.  The traffic on the trail itself was very light but the swimming hole areas can become crowded.  There are parking lots with plenty of parking and bathrooms located at both ends of the trail.
